Avenida Lúcio Costa, 3150
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and other gender and sexual minority (LGBTQIA+) researchers and practitioners primarily come to software engineering conferences to discuss the technical aspects of their work with the research community. However, we are also individuals whose rights and safety can be affected by the broader social and political context. At this year’s lunch, LGBTQIA+ researchers, practitioners, and allies are invited to gather in a safe and welcoming space to build community. We will also discuss how we navigate our roles within academic, industry, and governmental institutions, and what actions can support making software engineering conferences and workshops more inclusive and welcoming environments for LGBTQIA+ members of the research community. The LGBTQIA+ @ICSE lunch will take place on Thursday, April 16, from 12:30 to 14:00 at the restaurant Paris 6 (an 8-minute walk from the conference venue). A location outside the venue was selected to support participants’ privacy and to provide a welcoming space for open conversation and community building for the LGBTQIA+ participants. We have 70 spots available, sponsored by ICSE. If you are interested in joining, please sign up using this form to confirm your participation. Spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If we receive more than 70 responses, a waiting list will be created. If you need any more information, please contact Alexander Serebrenik, Mairieli Wessel, Giuseppe Destefanis or Ronnie de Souza Santos.
