Andreas is an adjunct professor in the Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen and a board member of paluno, the Ruhr Institute for Software Technology .
Andreas’ research focuses on the development of adaptive systems . His current focus is on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for adaptive software and adaptive business processes.
Andreas is active in European computer science bodies. In particular, he was Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee of the European Technology Platform NESSI (The Networked European Software and Services Initiative), Deputy Secretary General of the BDVA (Big Data Value Association), and External Advisor in the Architecture Committee of AI4Europe (the EU AI On-Demand Platform).
Andreas has secured over 10 EU-funded research projects for the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). In addition to co-applying for these projects, he frequently coordinated the proposals and held key leadership roles within them. Of particular note are his roles as technical architect of FIspace (Future Internet Collaboration in Agri-Food and Transport) and RestAssured (Secure Data Processing in the Cloud), as well as technical coordinator of FInest (Future Internet enabled Optimisation of Transport Networks) and TransformingTransport (Big Data Value in Mobility and Logistics).
